Mark Bender is a professional musician (multi-instrumental), recording/performance artist, songwriter, and music director/instructor. With training and interests in multiple styles, he cannot stand labels... However, Mark is known as a “rock” based musician first and foremost, making it a point to incorporate several other varied styles and influences in his playing. With that in mind, Mark is most notable for playing in groups within the genres of metal, punk, alternative, and good old fashioned rock and roll! Mark’s recordings are featured on Spotify and Apple Music or iTunes.
Upon touring and recording with a seminal punk rock band at the age of eighteen, Mark was nicknamed “The Kid” due to his young age and has been featured in several articles, citing him as one of Southern California’s most talented up and coming drummers. Soon thereafter, he attended Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, focusing on percussion and music theory in all styles of music. Continuing in that tradition, Bender is a highly respected and sought after music instructor, serving as both Music Director and Head of Percussion at notable music schools in Southern California. As a result, he has taught and mentored students of all ages and skill levels (including special needs kids) in all rock based instruments.
Mark is well known for his dedication to higher musical education and offers lessons in percussion, guitar, bass, vocals, keys, ukulele, harmonica, songwriting, and is also well versed in directing band rehearsals and live performances.
